Best App to help me refresh

Best app Ive found yet to help refresh my Portuguese. Uses various methods including vocabulary, grammar, listening and fill in blank and quizzes. This is all with free version, worth paying for pro version.

Portuguese

Well done! I also have the Italian one. They are both very fun to do. Good to practice and memorize the vocabulary, verbs, grammar and pronunciation.

Great app

I have a lot of Portuguese app and this app is great for looking up references. Its easy to use and has a nice easy layout. This is a must get if your learn Portuguese as a 2nd language or 3rd or 4th or 5th or so on lol.

Cool idea; feels unfinished

On the plus side I like the design and it covers a great deal of material. There are three structural problems: 1) A ton of typos relating to missing or wrong accents, for example "Está casa está suja". The intended meaning is "this house is dirty" however "está" is a verb form of "estar" and "esta" means "this". This is basic copy editing. Also the word "nõ" pops up from time to time. I think they mean "não". 2) The flashcards are weak. When I have played with the vocabulary it is a generic list, no ability to add words or edit. 3) When I have played with verb tense you are memorizing a list, there is no application component. There is a ton of cards related to "ser" vs. "estar". Hint if it can change in five minutes use estar. Other grammar points (like prepositions) are over looked completely in the grammar section. They say they have good quality audio but this is an additional purchase. I think overall this is a very limited app. Time would be better spent buying a flashcard program and creating lists yourself based on your needs. As far as audio there is a news and culture podcast put out by the SBS in Portuguese and a ton of free podcasts for Brazilian Portuguese. You can also try a free account at livemocha or rhinospike to connect with native speakers.

Portuguese Class

Excellent learning tool!!!

Good but it is wrong sometimes

It is a good app for learn and expanding. Your vocabulary but you can no use it as your main Studing tool because some of the answers are wrong

Good Grammar Reference

As it stands the best thing about it is the quick and easy reference to some of the main Portuguese grammar rules. Its a shame because this app could be so much better. They have some good exercises that I have seen in any other Portuguese app (and I have a lot of them). For instance: they have a really good audio quiz where you listen to a sentence and then you have to answer which word(s) youve heard within the sentence. Whats upsetting about this feature is that they couldnt even take the time to record the audio for the sentences with a real voice-over artist. Instead what they did was extract the audio recording from the audio feature from Google Translate. On top of that they mustve compressed the audio files that they captured even more thus rendering the already heard to understand robotic audio vo nearly unintelligible. Pathetic. I cant even remember what I paid for this but if its anything above $0.99 its too much.

Well done

Im actually Im not sure why there are no reviews for this app. Maybe some who are trying to learn Portuguese just dont know about. But its well created and very informational. It allows you to test your knowledge and apply what you learn. It can be such a useful aide in your quest for fluency. Perfect Portuguese is not necessary. I believe a lot of language learning should be done as if you were a child. But children, as they grow need to learn the technicality of the language. So this is the technical side of it all. Im very impressed and the course itself is not very expensive. Its well worth it. Well done folks!
